There has been a lot of talk about one of baseball's most controversial calls in the Major League Baseball playoffs. The Angels lost to the White Sox, in part, because of a call made by the home plate umpire. You can read about it here. Many people have said that baseball should implement instant replays in their games, and I don't think this should happen. Although the National Football League has adopted instant replays, I don't think they should have and other leagues should definitely shy away from it.
I enjoy watching NBA Basketball more than any other sport, so that makes me an outsider looking into the baseball world. But, the controversial call in Wednesday's game should not lead to instant replays in baseball. As a basketball fan, there are many calls that could go either way and in a sense, that is what makes the game a little more interesting. The same applies to any sport. Human error, be it from a player or referee, is part of the game. What fun would a flawless game be? Might as well have a computer simulate a game and have everything go perfectly.
Yes, it can be infuriating when the call goes the wrong way, but that is just one of the things that drives the passion of the players and the fans.
Umpire was wrong, but replay is worse
